Renée Fleming Recital in Toronto

Renée Fleming will be performing a recital in Toronto at the Roy Thompson Hall on October 30, 2015.

Those of you who know me well, will know that she is my favourite soprano.

This coloratura soprano first captured my attention with her speaking voice, hosting the

The Met: Live in HD, at the cinema, which incidentally is now celebrating 10 years! Subsequently I have collected most of her recordings, which include her foray into the world of rock. This luxurious voice travels superbly across the genres of music.
Those afflicted with ADHD will appreciate the mention in her song "Oxygen" from the "Dark Hope" album.

You may already know, that the President awarded her the National Medal of Arts, America's highest honour for an individual artist, at the Whitehouse in 2013, and was the first classically trained artist to deliver the Stars and Stripes at the Superbowl in 2014.

This Friday evening in Toronto, Ms. Fleming will be performing select songs by Patricia Barber, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Robert Schumann and Richard Strauss as well as selections from Joseph Canteloube’s Songs of the AuvergneShe will be joined by Gerald Martin Moore on the piano.

The anticipation is great!
